LoveYourForest anti-litter campaign

is an innovative anti-litter campaign which was first launched in the Forest of Dean in 2016 by environmental charity Hubbub and Lucozade Ribena Suntory (LRS).  Supported by the Forest of Dean District Council and the Forestry Commission the campaign aimed to highlight the issue of rural litter and look at new ways of encouraging those that drop litter to stop.

棋牌游戏电玩平台A pop-up convenience store (displaying items of collected litter), primary school visits, cigarette butt voting bins, roadside signage and '' (faces made from litter and then displayed on trees throughout the district at litter hotspots) were just some of the activities undertaken in 2016.

棋牌游戏电玩平台In 2017, Wye Valley and Forest of Dean Tourism and Foresters' Forest also came on board to help tackle this important issue.  During this year, Hubbub and LRS launched the which toured the district, exchanging collected litter for rewards.

棋牌游戏电玩平台Over 250 tonnes of litter are collected each year in the Forest of Dean.  Whether it is the financial cost to the tax payer to clear it up, the harm to wildlife or how it detracts from our local environment and impacts on the local economy, litter affects us all.  By supporting the Love Your Forest campaign you can help us take a stand against litter and keep the Forest of Dean a beautiful place to live, work and visit.

Are you interested in litter picking?

棋牌游戏电玩平台Before undertaking a litter pick it is suggested that you complete a risk assessment of the area you are looking to clean up first and take some simple precautions to keep you safe.

棋牌游戏电玩平台If you are unable to take your bags of litter picked materials home and dispose of them in your black refuse bin, please let us know so that we can organise for the bags to be collected.  Please call 01594 810000.  Bags of litter from Forestry Commission sites, should be reported to them via email: westengland@forestryengland.uk.

You should never pick litter from the roadside verges outside the 30mph zones.  Picking litter near traffic can be extremely dangerous so only collect litter from areas away from the road or within the 30mph areas in the villages if you are picking close to the verge.

Remember the Forest of Dean District Council can lend groups or individuals litter picking equipment such as litter pickers, hoops and sacks so please get in touch if this is of interest.
